This is a World War I British 3rd pattern pair of folding barbed wire cutters which do still work and they are not maker marked they have been very well cleaned and move perfectly. The cutters still fold up and out very easy not stiff at all and the cutters are in very nice and solid condition with some surface rust and pitting but overall a nice example of these Army issue British wire cutters. The cutters came from a private collection the Somme battlefield they were found many years ago and are a very nice relic from the famous Somme battle of 1916-1918 and a iconic find from this famous battle.
