This is a German Wehrmacht vehicle medical box or Verbandkasten with maker markings clear to see on the lid. The box has some of its original green paintwork remains on it fairly clear to see and the red cross and white stamped markings again can be seen not perfectly. The box which has some dents and knocks from use also has wooden panels in it from post war use on the farm it has light surface rust all over but not any heavy thick rust the box still opens and closes but the locks are rusted solid and do not work it is in overall pretty good condition and a nice example of this medical box which is battlefield found and more semi-relic then full relic which has been very well cleaned and is perfect for display or any collection .The medical box was found in 2017 with other items on a Farm at Doornik in Belgium which is on the French border the Farm was being used by British artillery guns in 1940 trying to hold back the German advance towards Dunkirk. A very nice rare relic from the famous Dunkirk pocket battle of 1940 the can comes with a A5 laminated information sheet with photos of the boxes as they were found on the Farm in 2017.
