This is a blown apart base section of 15cm projectile dated 1944 properly fired by German 15cm SFH 18 howitzer. The shell case which is the base section only the rest of the case has blown off clear to see ripped and bent with impact damage it is in semi relic condition really fantastic condition for a recovered case still fairly smooth to the touch about 50% original steel colour which has been very well cleaned to get it looking this good the markings on the bottom of the case can be partly seen including the date that can be seen fairly clear with some other markings. This case is a rare find in this nice condition from the battlefield. The shell case would have been fired in the prelude to the attack as it was recovered near the village of Honsfield in the Losheim gap attacked by the 6th SS Panzer Army on the 16th December 1944 at the start of the Ardennes offensive in the Forest during the Battle of the Bulge in 1944-45 and comes with A5 laminated information card.
