    This is a British mills bomb hand grenade brass base plate very well cleaned and dated July 1916 with its markings nice and readable not damaged at all. This plate screwed in to the bottom of the very famous British mills bomb hand grenade it has cleaned up very well it retains all of its original brass colour and is perfect for display or any collection and not the easiest of finds from the battlefield these days now. The grenade base plate was recovered in 2014 from the old German trench line at La Boisselle in the field opposite where the Lochnagar mine crater is today it was recovered during work being carried out right on top of the old German trench line as it was on the 1st July 1916 during battle of the Somme the famous attack on that day.
