This is a nice condition German sniper shield which is missing its door and its leg but the plate its self has no real damage not even any cracks. The plate still has some of its original black paint work in a few places clear to see and on one side a lot of paint it is rusty but solid and is in relic condition but has been very nicely cleaned and come up very well and so unusual to find in this condition with this amount of paintwork. The shield was recovered in 2014 from a pit of buried equipment in what was a German trench line near the village of Gueudecourt this area was defended by the 2nd Royal Bavarian Division part of the German 2nd Army during the battles of September-October 1916 on the Somme a very nice and rare relic from the famous Somme battlefield of 1916 1918. The plate comes with A5 laminated information card.
