    This is a rare American 105mm artillery gun shell case dated 1944 turned in to trench art .This unusual to find world war 2 trench art case with a shaped top and has Souvenir of the 1944-1945 war on it with all maker markings pretty clear to see the cases still retains its shiny brass colour and is in nice solid condition it has been well cleaned and is perfect for display or any collection.The case size and calibre were used in M101 105mm howitzer.This case was found many years ago and has been in a private collection ever since around Bastogne in the Ardennes Forest from the scene of the battle of the bulge in the winter of 1944-1945 a very nice and unusual relic from this famous battle and Hitler's last big offensive of the war. 

    The 105 mm M2A1 (M101A1) howitzer was a howitzer developed and used by the United States. It was the standard U.S. light field howitzer in World War II and saw action in both the European and Pacific theaters. Entering production in 1941, it quickly gained a reputation for accuracy and a powerful punch. The M101A1 fired 105-millimetre (4.1 in) high explosive (HE) semi-fixed ammunition and had a range of 11,270 metres (12,330 yd), making it suitable for supporting infantry.
