    This is a rare find from the battlefield American soldiers mess tin which is not complete does still have its carry handle which works and does have some damage in the aluminium with a few holes in which also has black paintwork on the bottom. The mess tin which is maker marked and dated 1917 is in fantastic condition after being buried for 70 odd years it has been very nicely cleaned retains a lot of its original colour and rare to find from this famous battlefield. The mess tin was recovered from the woods around Bastogne from the siege in the Ardennes Forest in Belgium from the winter of 1944 during Hitlers last great offensive in the West.
