    This is a rare glass framed display German label from Kriegsmarine Artillery Sprechgarnitur C42A headset used by coastal artillery gun crew . The frame is 10 half inches long by 8 half inches wide. The label is all of its original colours it is very solid not braking up or falling apart and can be read very well the label has been mounted nicely with information and pictures.The label recovered from the Atlantic wall emplacements which was part of the defensive system for the port of Saint Malo, the battle was fought in August 1944 in France.

    The town was occupied by the Germans as part of fortress Saint Malo. Its strategic position on the road to Saint Malo and the presence of the airport made it an important element of the German defence in Brittany. . The battle for the walled city Saint Malo and the fortress positions began on August 4, 1944. The commander of Fortress Saint-Malo, Colonel Von Aulock, surrendered all German forces in the area on August 17th, 1944. Most of the German troops in the area where the remnants of the 77th Infantry Division which were badly beaten in June and July in the heavy fighting in Normandy.
