This is a nice and rare find from the battlefield German maxim machine gun 3 sections of cloth ammunition belt the sections which are 3-7 inches long. The belt sections are amazingly still solid not braking up or falling apart the spacers are dirty but solid still retain some original colour they have been very lightly cleaned and are left as found they are perfect for display or any collection and rare to get from the battlefield especially in this good a condition perfect for display or any collection. These belt sections were recovered in 2014 from the old German trench line at La Boisselle in the field opposite where the Lochnagar mine crater is today on the second information card there is photo of the trench line as it looks today the red dot shows the exact location where the plate was found it was recovered during work being carried out right on top of the old German trench line as it was on the 1st July 1916 during battle of the Somme the famous attack on that day. The shield comes with a A5 laminated information card with maps of the exact location it was found and is one of the rarest relics i have ever had from the Somme battlefield.
