This is a British soldier of the 8th Army Mark 3 Brodie Helmet with no liner or chin strap. The helmet is in relic but solid condition with some rust holes and damage it does not really have much paintwork a few flecks here and there difficult to tell the colour so small but with some nice nice original colour in places it has been well cleaned perfect for display or any collection. The helmet was recovered from outside Hamburg from the battle that was fought against German 1st parachute army in April - May 1945 in last days of the Reich in Germany.

The Battle of Hamburg was one of the last battles during the war where the remaining troops of the German 1st parachute Army fought the British 8th Army for the control of Hamburg fought between 18 April and 3 May 1945. The 12th SS Regiment defended the outskirts of the city and then the British troops were met with fierce resistance inside the city as Hamburg was the last significant remaining pocket of resistance in the north. Once the British had captured the city, they continued their advance north-east and sealed off the remnants of the 1st Parachute Army. By this time the 1st Parachute Army were a mix of SS, paratroopers, Valkssturm, along with regular Wehrmacht soldiers, supported by sailors, police, firemen and Hitler Youth. Other German units in the area including a tank destroyer battalion, a Hungarian SS unit and many panzerfaust anti-tank troops were still located in the woods south of Hamburg. British troops were met with fierce resistance inside the city as Hamburg was the last significant remaining pocket of resistance in the north. Once the British had captured the city, they continued their advance north-east and sealed off the remnants of the 1st Parachute Army and finally captured the city and a lot of its defenders on the 3rd May 1945.
