This is a British army metal carry case propelling charges for 5.5 inch artillery gun which is dated 1942 on the lid. The box is in fantastic condition still with a lot of its original green paintwork and yellow stamped maker markings it has both its carry handles it has some surface rust but not to bad and it has no rust holes the lid still opens closes and locks perfectly the hinges work fine as well. The inside of the box has paper label on the inside of the lid some of the markings are partly readable some better then others very rare to get a box from the battlefield in such good condition that has cleaned up so well. The box was bought in Dieppe and was used in Normandy during the fighting in the Normandy campaign in the summer of 1944.
