This is a German Wehrmacht vehicle medical box or Verbandkasten with the red cross maker markings very clear to see on the lid. The box has most of its original green and white colour paintwork on it all over the box properly about 80% paintwork still on it. The box which has some dents and knocks from use it has lighter surface rust all over but not any heavy thick rust the box still opens and closes and locks perfectly but is broken the hinge bar is missing on the inside it has some original green paintwork the wood in the back of the lid is there but broken it is in overall pretty good condition and a nice example of this medical box which is battlefield found and more semi-relic at worst which has been very well cleaned and is perfect for display or any collection .The medical box was recovered near the airfield at Voroponovo which was the site of a field hospital that was in the 6th Army pocket during the Battle of Stalingrad in 1942-1943.The box comes with A5 laminated information card.
