    This is a fantastic condition complete Ignition harness from one of the Junkers Jumo 211 engines on German Heinkel shot down during the battle of Britain. The aluminium made tube which has brass electrical fitting attached at one end also with electrical wiring attached it still retains most of its original colours and some black paintwork it has ripped and bent by the impact of the crash it is in nice solid condition the part has been very nicely cleaned and is perfect for display or any collection the part is 12 inches long and 5 inches wide

    The part is from Heinkel He 111H-2 work number 5481 of 3/KG53 the pilot of the bomber was severely wounded in fighter attack during a sortie to bomb London. The crew baled out and the bomber crashed on Bourne Farm in Sandhurst at 3.30pm on 15th September 1940 during the hardest day in Battle of Britain. The bomber was attacked by RAF Spitfires of Number 92 squadron including pilot officer H.P Hill. The crew Feldwebel K.Rothig and Uunteroffizier A.Lehner were both killed.Oberleutnant G.Buchner baled out and captured unhurt and Gefreiter H.Stamminger with Gefreiter H.Richter both baled out and captured wounded.

    The ignition harness was recovered from the surface of the crash site of this German bomber in the early 1970’s by members of the Brenzett recovery group. On Sunday, 15 September 1940, the Luftwaffe launched its largest and most concentrated attack against London in the hope of drawing out the RAF into a battle of annihilation. Around 1,500 aircraft took part in the air battles which lasted until dusk. The action was the climax of the Battle of Britain. This day is now known as Battle of Britain Day and is the most famous day of the battle.
