This is a French soldiers gas mask tin dated 1927 with original cloth carry strap and has its paper label inside the lid with most of its words still readable and cardboard base inside the tin.The tin is complete with its original markings on the bottom with the date and it has some original paintwork the lid still opens and closes and is air tight.This tin is part of a large private collection in Dunkirk from which the items have been recovered of many years from the early 1980's on wards either throw detecting on the beaches them self's or the surrounding area and items found in buildings or dump sites or scrap yards and collected from local people who had them for souvenirs a vast collection all from the area which was being used by the British Army in 1940 during the evacuation. A very nice rare relic from the famous Dunkirk pocket battle of 1940
