     This is a German Army soldiers complete mess tin which has the soldiers name scratched in to it and has some original green paintwork the tin is dated 1939 on the side and 1940 on the lid .The tin is in good condition with all of its original colour it is a bit dirty and scratched from use but no other damage the lid still goes on and off ok it is a bit stiff it has its carry handle overall a very nice example of this unusual to find very early war tin which is perfect for display or any collection.The mess tin was found in the Calais area many years ago it has been in a private collection ever since then it was used by a German soldier during the battle of France May-June 1940 or on the Atlantic wall defence or possibly even in both available for the first time outside of France since the war.
