    This is a German Ballistic cap for shell used on captured French 155mm cannon used by the Germans as Kanone 418.The cap is in nice solid condition for a relic it is rusty in a few places with some rust holes but still has a lot of original black paintwork but is in overall very nice condition and soild it is rare to find one of these especially battlefield recovered. The cap was found in Northern France near the coast so would have been used on the Atlantic Wall and is a very nice relic from Hitlers famous wall.This cap comes with a 5x7 laminated information sheet with photo.

    In 1940, France fielded 450 of these guns. Many of them were captured and used by Germany for the rest of the war. In German service it was known as the 15.5 cm K 418(f); it served with heavy artillery battalions in Afrika Korps and on coastal defense duties. On D-Day in 1944, the German Army had over 50 of the 155-mm French guns in sites on the northern French beaches most famously at Pointe du hoc in Normandy.
