This is a Very Rare German gas mask tin blue painted Luftwaffe issue with the remains of the soldiers name in red paint on the bottom and then has been over painted in sand camouflage used by a soldier of the 1st SS Panzer Division a real example of a late war re issue desperation to re equip soldiers. The tin is in very good condition for a relic the lid still opens, closes and locks properly with a fair amount of its original paintwork clear to see but does have some rust holes but is solid and not braking up at all and very rare to find from the battlefield in such good condition with so much paintwork the tin has about 50% of its original paint work on the outside and the inside is perfectly cleaned as well but has no paintwork. This is a very nice example a a late war re issued tin and rare luftwaffe one that has been very well cleaned perfect for display or any collection. The tin was recovered near Stavelot in the Ardennes Forest so this is how we know it is 1st SS Panzer Division they were the only troops in the area during the battle.A very nice and rare relic from the Ardennes Forest used during battle of Bulge in the winter of 1944-1945 and Hitlers last offensive in the West. The tin lid comes with a A5 laminated information card with picture.
