    This is a German soldiers dog tag one of a group all found together at the same site in 2018 in the kurland Pocket.This is a half dog tag for soldier number 22 of the 2nd company,Luftwaffe Jager regiment 26 part of the 21st Luftwaffe field division this is a zinc made later war production tag this is the top half of the tag which would has been broken off.This tag half is in very nice solid condition for a relic with most of its markings completely readable the tag still retains some of its original colour but it does have some pitting and damage from being buried it has been nicely cleaned and is perfect for display or any collection.The dog tag was recovered from the surrender site of the German 21st Luftwaffe field division at Spirgus which is a village and area near the town of Slampe which is west of Riga in the Kurland pocket were Army group Kurland finally surrendered to the Russians in May 1945 in Latvia.The last picture on the listing shows Luftwaffe field division soldiers.

    Wehrmacht hunter Regiment 26 was created on November 1, 1943 by the takeover of the Luftwaffe Jäger Regiment 26 into the army for the Luftwaffe 13th field Division they fought as part of Army Group North around the Ladoga and Pleskau area of Russia they where commanded by Major General Heinz Korte from April 1944 until disbanded.The 13th field Division was disbanded in May 1944 with the troops sent in to different units as replacements some ending up in the 21st Luftwaffe field division commanded by General Otto Barth which fought in most of the major battles in the Kurland Pocket and remand part of Army Group Kurland until the end of the war.
