German metal carry case for transporting 3.7 cm Flak 18 anti-aircraft gun shells. The box does have a lot of original paintwork which is black colour paint with original white and yellow paint stencilled markings on the exterior some still very clear to read also has paper labels on the outside both with clear markings. Both hinges are good the lid opens and closes and locks properly as well the tin is overall in very nice condition with just some light surface rust but does have a few rust holes as well also has its carry handle with the wooden grip. This case is rarer then the standard Flak 18/36/37/43 case as it is marked Flak 18 which was out of service by 1936 and was only made in small numbers but the case would have held shells for the later Flak 36/37/43 guns as well but still very unusual to find with just Flak 18 marking so must be an early war case. The case itself is nearly identical to the German WWII M24 Stick Grenade Case, however the internal rack is different but these boxes were not made in massive numbers compared to the stick grenade version so a rare box to get hold off.The box comes from Normandy so would have been used during the fighting in the Normandy battlefield in the summer of 1944. The item comes with a laminated 5x7 information sheet with photo.
