This is a German M16 helmet nice condition with a little bit of original paint in a few places still fairly smooth to the touch but with a lot of  surface rust the shell is very near complete just with some small rust holes mostly down one side. But the rare bit it has been turned in to a food scoop post war and has the remains of the fitting on the back of the helmet which has no leather liner or chin strap. The helmet is in relic but solid condition not braking up or crumbling it has been very well cleaned perfect for display or any collection and a rare bit for any collection as well. This helmet has come from a private collection on the Somme battlefield but originally was found on a Farm in the village of Gommecourt which was attacked on the 1st July 1916 during the battle of the Somme and is a cracking relic from the famous battlefield.
