This is a recognisable bit of German DFS glider it is a Wing or tail flap counter balance. These were used to make weight on the flaps to move them this one has broken in two but is pretty much complete t it is rusty but solid and retains some of its original colour on the connector bolts it has been very well cleaned it is very solid and a nice condition relic which was recovered from the crash site of one of these gliders in the 1970's on the Island. This airframe joint which is a heavy item and is 11 inches long by 4 inches wide and is from German DFS 230 Assault glider that crash landed on Crete in May 1941 during the German invasion and capture of the Island. A very nice and rare part from the famous battle of Crete ware the Fallschirmjager made there name and a rare glider to find parts from that took part in the battle perfect for display and comes with a A5 laminated information sheet.
