This is a section internal structure which has blown off ripped and bent when the tank was hit and blew up .The section still retains near all of its original white paintwork very clear to see it is rusty but solid still retrains a lot of original colour and has been nicely cleaned it is perfect for display or any collection and with so much paintwork on quite unusual and internal structure like this is very rare to find from the battlefield and is 9 inches long by 7 inches wide. The structure was recovered from the site of a destroyed British Sherman Tank in the 11th Armoured Division destroyed in fighting and recovered from near the village of Habloville the battle of the 16-20 August 1944 closing the gap in the Falaise Pocket in Normandy. The relic comes with 2xA5 laminated information cards with the details of the battle and where on the tank the part comes from.

The British 11th Armoured division was attached to XXX corps. It progressed eastward hard on the heels of the Germans, who were retreating after the failure of the Mortain counteroffensive. On the 16th August they were engaged in heavy fighting against a German rear-guard then the 11th Armoured division seized Flers on 17 August. Then they were involved in closing the Falaise pocket gap advancing steadily towards Trun after its capture and once the battle for the Falaise gap was over, the 11th Armoured liberated more towns and villages as it moved across France into Germany. Below insignia of the 11th Armoured Division.
