This is a very nice condition group of parts to find recovered from a crash site of a RAF Mosquito. This is a group which are 2 sections of airframe one aluminium the other metal and wood the aluminium part has a lot of green paintwork remains still on it also a section a hire pressure airline for firing the Hispano cannons also part of the mount for a cannon as well they are nicely cleaned so much original colour not much dirt on at all they are damaged from the impact of the crash ripped and bent by the impact but are in lovely condition for recovered parts which are perfect for display or any collection and are 6-11 inches long. The parts were recovered from RAF Mosquito NF mark 2 number HK123 which was intercepting German Ju88 bomber on night intruder raid over England on the 15th September 1943 when it was shot down and crashed at Tenterden in Kent. The parts come with a A5 laminated information card.
The Mosquito which was a mark 2-night fighter fitted with radar which only 466 were built was from 85 squadron based at West Malling in Kent. The mosquito was damaged by return fire from the Ju88 bomber of KG6 number 550227 after the Mosquito attacked it in the dark. The Mosquito badly damaged and on fire crashed in to a field in Tenterden near Ashford in Kent .The Crew both bailed out ok were F/O (86574) Edward Richard HEDGECOE DFC (pilot) RAFVR
Sgt (1450589) James Richard WITHAM (nav.) RAFVR. The JU88 bomber also damaged crashed in to the sea of Dungeness at 10.10pm that night all the crew were killed.
