There are 3 aluminium and metal airframe sections still with some original paintwork also with original colours that are very clear to see The parts are a bit corroded but solid all the parts have ripped and bent by the impact of the crash and have been nicely cleaned they are in nice solid condition and are perfect for display or any collection the parts are 3-6 inches long.The parts are from German Heinkel He 111H-2 work number 5481 of 3/KG53. The pilot of the bomber was severely wounded in fighter attack during a sortie to bomb London. The crew baled out and the bomber crashed on Bourne Farm in Sandhurst at 3.30pm on 15th September 1940 during the hardest day in Battle of Britain.The parts were recovered from the surface of the crash site of this German bomber in the early 1970’s by members of the Brenzett recovery group.The part comes with 2xA5 laminated information cards with pictures.
The bomber was attacked by RAF Spitfires of Number 92 squadron including pilot officer H.P Hill. The crew Feldwebel K.Rothig and Uunteroffizier A.Lehner were both killed.Oberleutnant G.Buchner baled out and captured unhurt and Gefreiter H.Stamminger with Gefreiter H.Richter both baled out and captured wounded.
On Sunday, 15 September 1940, the Luftwaffe launched its largest and most concentrated attack against London in the hope of drawing out the RAF into a battle of annihilation. Around 1,500 aircraft took part in the air battles which lasted until dusk. The action was the climax of the Battle of Britain. This day is now known as Battle of Britain Day and is the most famous day of the battle.
