This is a very rare German M40 helmet single decal with sand camouflage paintwork possibly Afrikakorps used in the Desert war from a soldier who made it out before the surrender across to Italy. The helmet which has the famous green paintwork remains still on the inside very clear to see on one side this helmet really retains a far bit of original colour as on the outside lots of clear to see sand colour paintwork remains all over but mostly on the front. The helmet has the single eagle decal again fairly clear to see the swastika itself is the clearest part it has no leather liner or chin strap it is fairly smooth to the touch it is rusty and pitted with a few rust holes but is lovely and solid not braking up or falling apart at all it has been very well cleaned as is perfect for display or any collection and a very rare helmet to find from the battlefield especially in this condition. The helmet was recovered from Monte Cassino the Italian battlefield of 1944 it was recovered many years ago and has been in a local museum since which closed down in 2015.A very nice relic from the very famous Italian battlefield. The tin comes with a A5 laminated information card with pictures.
