This is a group of 6 engine parts and 3 aluminium airframe sections still with some original paintwork also with original colours that are very clear to see but still with some dirt attached from the recovery. The parts are rusted but solid all the parts have ripped and bent by the impact of the crash and have been nicely cleaned might clean up more with effort they are in nice solid condition and are perfect for display or any collection the parts are 2-6 inches long. The group of parts come from German messerschmitt 109 number 5562 shot down on 29th October 1940 and crashed at Maldon in Essex shot down during the Battle of Britain. A very nice group of relics from a battle of Britain and German Messerschmitt 109.The group comes with a A5 laminated information sheet with crash site picture and pilots photo.
Messerschmitt BF109 number 5562 of 4/LG2 was on a low level ground attack on North Weald at 4.53pm on 29TH October 1940 when it was attacked and shot down by Flight Lieutenant R.A Barton of NO 249 squadron. The plane crashed alongside the Goldhanger road at Maldon the pilot H.Rank was badly burned and died of his injuries the same day in St Peters Hospital. The wreckage of the plane was recovered in 1974.
