    This is a rare pair of large chunks of blown pilots armored glass fragments still very thick chunks of glass not the whole thickness which is around 30mm these are broken in half nearly as well from being smashed apart in the crash .The glass still retain there original colour they have smashed by the impact the crash but they are in lovely clean condition they have been nicely cleaned the sections are around 3-4 inches long and are perfect for display or for any collection. These parts are from RAF Spitfire number P7303 flown by Sergeant C.A.H Ayling of 421 Flight out of Gravesend he was shot down at 4.00pm on the 11th October 1940 by German ace Adolf Galland it was his 45th Victory during the battle of Britain and comes with a laminated A5 information card with pictures the last picture shows what the pilots armoured glass looked like on the front of the cockpit.

    The pilot Sergeant Ayling was killed the plane was shot down by German Messerschmitt BF 109’s flown by Major Galland inLarge chunks of blown pilots armored glass fragments a dogfight over Hawkinge the plane crashed at Newchurch. A recovery was done in 1978 by the Brenzett Aeronautical Museum with many fragments found.
