This is a German soldiers mess tin still with a lot of original black paintwork very clear to see and cracking condition for a 100 year old tin. The tin has no lid and has no markings that can be seen but is very rare to get from the battle field in this condition still with so much paintwork it is in relic but solid condition does have some damage and holes from being buried the tin is not crumbling or braking up and has been nicely cleaned perfect for display or any collection. This mess tin was recovered from inside a German bunker near the village of Bucquay which was a German artillery position during the later part of The Somme battle in 1916 a very nice and rare relic from the famous Somme battlefield.
