This is a matching pair of French 75mm brass shell cases trench art with a embossed lines with pebble dash design around the top .The cases are in fantastic condition nice and clean still retain there shiny brass colour and have no major damage and the design was possibly done by the troops themselves in the Trenches or on battlefield clearance due to the fairly basic design.The cases have all there original markings on the bottom of it including both being dated one 1914 and the other 1917 all the markings are clear to read.The shells were fired by Canon de 75mm Modele 1897 the standard French gun on the Western Front. The cases come from a private collection on the Somme and is a very nice condition relic from the famous Somme battlefield of 1916-1918.
