This is a Very Rare German 21cm Morser 16 heavy howitzer for 2 separated propelling charge brass cartridge cases wicker carry case complete with 2 brass cases both dated August 1917. The wicker case is in nice condition the wicker is still very solid not braking up or badly damaged at all it still has its carry handle solid to use it does have a little bit of damage around one handle and on the edges but nothing much ware and tear from use mostly and the wicker still retains its original colour and has been cleaned.The inside of the box is in fantastic condition again it has no damage a bit dirty but still has the holding bracket wooden bars on place in place the 2 cases them selves which fit in there lovely are in very good condition original brass colour no real damage most of the original markings clear to read and very nice matching date.These crates were used on the front line holding the ammunition stacked up by the guns as they were being fired overall the crate is a fantastic example the wood and wicker is still solid for over 100 years old and the crate is perfect for display. This is the first German 21cm Morser wicker case i have ever had at all a real one off and especially in this condition these were normally re used after the war until they fell apart or burnt for fire wood.The case comes with a A5 laminated information sheet with photo .This crate comes from a collection on the Somme so a very nice and rare relic from the famous Somme battlefield.
