This is a German engineers large shovel head which is missing the wooden handle. The head is in relic but solid condition it is rusty but not crumbling or braking up it is not complete with some rust damage at the tip which has rusted away but the rare bit is the impact hole battle damage clear to see it has been well cleaned since its recovery and is perfect for display or any collection. The shovel head was recovered from Broodseinde Ridge the October 1917 battle part of the battles around the Ypres salient in the later part of the war. A very nice find from the famous Ypres battlefield of 1914-1918 in Belgium.
