This is a German Tiger 1 Tank very nice blown section of armour plate blown off the tank when it was hit it is 26mm armour plate from the underbelly or turret roof the only places that had this thickness .This is a very rare with a lot of paintwork still with a lot of original red undercoat paint remains with white paint over the top on both sides so properly internal paint one side on the other must be white camouflage paint remains the section is covered in weld which is still its shiny colour. The plate has been blown clean of the tank the section is not very rusty at all it has been very nicely cleaned it is in nice solid condition perfect for display or any collection and is a very nice size at 11 inches long by 6 inches wide a very rare bit of German tiger tank recovered from the battlefield. This armour plate is very unusual find in this nice condition from the battlefield as it has been in the silt of the lake which has preserved it very well and kept so much of the original colour .The armour plate was recovered from a Lake East of Bastogne from battle of the Bulge in the winter of 1944-1945.Due to the very low number of Tiger 1 tanks in the battle it is very easy to work out what unit it is from Schwere Panzer Abteilung 506
.The armour comes with 2x A5 laminated information cards with pictures.
The only German Wehrmacht unit with Tiger 1 tanks in the whole battle and offensive 14 of them most were destroyed. They were in the 4th Company of Schwere Panzer Abteilung 506.
