This is nice glass framed Pair of aluminium airframe parts from a German battle of Britain bomber. The parts have been nicely cleaned and retains its original colour they have been mounted in to a glass fronted box frame with plane and crash information and pictures the frame is 9 half inches by 7 half inches in size. This parts are from German Dornier 17 bomber work number 3294 shot down on 15th September 1940 and crashed at Laindon Hills in Billericay .A very nice group of parts from the famous battle of Britain and German Dornier 17 bomber shot down on the most famous day of the battle.
This plane of 4/KG3 was on the mass bomber raid on London the largest during the Battle of Britain.it was intercepted and Shot down by RAF fighters there was Pilot Officer A.E Johnson of number 46 squadron also Pilot officers H.P Hill and D.G Williams of number 92 squadron also Pilot Officer R..G.A Barclay of number 249 squadron. The plane Crashed with its petrol tanks on fire and exploded in Gladstone Road Laindon Hills in Billericay.
The crew of the Dornier were Leutnant K.Dulmer also Unteroffizier H.maskolus and Feldwebel A.Vogel all believed to have attempted to bale out but all were killed Unteroffizier G.Friebe did bale out and captured unhurt.
On Sunday, 15 September 1940, the Luftwaffe launched its largest and most concentrated attack against London in the hope of drawing out the RAF into a battle of annihilation. Around 1,500 aircraft took part in the air battles which lasted until dusk. The action was the climax of the Battle of Britain. This day is now known as Battle of Britain Day and is the most famous day of the battle.
