This is a Russian IS-2 Josef Stalin tank complete track link pin.The pin is complete and with its pin head it is in relic but solid condition it has been very well used and has been nicely cleaned and is perfect for display or any collection and can go back in to a track link if you wanted to .The track link pin was recovered from near Kaunas in Lithuania from Battles around the City in August 1944 during the Russian offensive in Operation Bagration. Operation Bagration which cleared German forces from the Belorussian USSR and eastern Poland between 22 June and 19 August 1944. The operation resulted in the almost complete destruction of an entire German army group, with the loss of Army group centre’s Fourth Army, Third panzer Army and Ninth Army. The Kaunas Offensive covered the operations of Chernyakhovsky's 3rd Belorussian front from 28 July to 28 August, towards the Lithuanian city of Kaunas, subsequent to their completion of the offensive against Vilnius. By 30 July all Wehrmacht resistance on the approaches to the Neman River had retreated or been annihilated. Two days later the city of Kaunas was under Soviet control.
