    This is a very nice and very rare lovely complete engine valve rocker from a Daimler Benz engine it is not damaged by the impact of the crash but has rusted solid. The valve rocker is totally complete it has been very well cleaned and has most of its original colours but with some light surface rust it is in nice solid condition it is perfect for display or any collection it is 4 half inches long and from the hart of the DB601 Daimler Benz engine on the aircraftThe engine valve rocker comes from German Messerschmitt bf109 fighter number 4842 which was engaged on a free-lance sortie over Canterbury in Kent and were intercepted by RAF spitfires on the 18th September 1940 during the Battle of Britain.The engine part comes with 2xA5 laminated information cards.

    The Messerschmitt caught fire whilst under attack by flying officer R.W.Oxspring of No66 squadron who shot the aircraft down. The abandoned aircraft crashed in flames and burned out at Guilton, Ash, near Sandwich at 5.05pm on the 18th September 1940.The pilot Leutnant.E.Bodendiek who had baled out safely but was captured seriously wounded.
