RARE two round metal ammunition box for early Panzer 4 tank fitted with KWK37 short-barrelled 75 mm gun infantry support tank .The box is complete but has impact hole and damage on the back ware it looks like it has been in an explosion both hinges are broken on the lid the carry handle still works but is very stiff and the box is still covered in some original green paintwork and has some of its white stamped markings that can be seen on one side but this box's rare bit is the original paper labels on the inside of the lid with many markings and stamps but clearly dated 1940 so must have re issued and was still being used later on in the war . A very nice and rare early war example of this ammunition crate which was still in use with the Army in 1944 it comes with a 5x7 laminated information sheet with photos. The box comes from Normandy so would have been used during the fighting in the Normandy battlefield in the summer of 1944.
The 7.5 cm KwK 37 L/24 (7.5 cm Kampfwagenkanone 37 L/24) was a short-barreled, howitzer-like German 75 mm tank gun used during World War II, primarily as the main armaments of the early Panzer IV tanks and slightly modified as StuK 37 in early StuG III assault guns.
