    This is a German soldiers dog tag recovered from one of the most famous battlefields on the Eastern front. This is a half dog tag for soldier number 230 in the 12 company of the 71st Infantry regiment in the 29th infantry Division of the Wehrmacht this is a zinc made mid war production tag this is the bottom half of the tag which would has been broken off. This tag half is in very nice solid condition for a relic with its markings completely readable when the tag is clean the tag still retains some of its original color but it is a bit dirty and damaged from being buried it has been nicely cleaned and is perfect for display or any collection and a very rare tag from this famous battlefield. The dog tag was recovered from the battlefield around Stalingrad the 1942-1943 battle in Russia which was the destruction of the German 6th Army. The tag comes from a very large private collection of dog tags recovered from all over Europe from most of the fronts fought on by the German Army in World War 2.

    The 71st Infantry regiment was established in 1936 and become part of the 29th infantry Division they fought in the invasion of Poland in 1939.Then in 1941 part of Operation Barbarossa on October 15th 1942 the regiment was renamed the Grenadier Regiment [mot] 71.Then as part of the 29th Infantry Division they were destroyed in January 1943 in Stalingrad in Russia.
