Rare medals and photographs all in viking decorated wooden box for German SS Wiking division soldier killed in Russia this box was his mother's and sat in her house after the war until her death. The group contains 32 photographs taken in Germany and on the Eastern front in Poland and Russia also there is a framed document and a wartime unopened cigarette box and all of his medals which are Iron cross 2nd class, infantry assault badge,Russian Front medal,NSDAP 10 year service award in Bronze and SA Sports badge. All the medals other then the NSDAP badge are in Perfect condition with ribbons but the ribbon for the iron cross has a stain on it which could be bloody possibly but do not know for sure. The NSDAP medal is a bit rusty and only has some brass left with no ribbon. This group came directly from house clearance of the family in Germany to my friends collection and is now available for the first time in many years. Unfortunately all we know about the soldier is his surname was Schaaf that he was an NCO in the Wiking Division and was killed in Russia we think some time around 1943 the last photograph on the listing is 3 soldiers he is the middle soldier if you notice that he is wearing his iron cross 2nd class ribbon which would be the one in the box here and may explain the stain on the ribbon if he was wearing it when he was killed .This is a very rare and hard to find group of items for the same SS soldier.
