This is a German King Tiger Tank ripped off in an explosion when the tank was hit and blew up very large section of solid armoured plate .This section of armour which is 80mm armoured plate from side or rear hull the only places that had that thickness of armour and has lots jagged edges where it ripped of the tank it has been very nicely cleaned it is in nice solid condition perfect for display or any collection and is 14 inches long by 6 inches wide in size a heavy lump of armour. This section of armoured plate was recovered from near the town of stavelot in the Ardennes Forest this is how we know it is from a German King Tiger of SS panzer abteilung 501 of the SS Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler they were the only King Tiger tanks in the area so has to be from one of those that was destroyed in the battle a very rare and nice relic used in the Battle of the bulge in the winter of 1944-1945.The armour comes with a A5 laminated information card with pictures.

SS.Panzer Abteilung 501 which had 20 King tiger tanks this was the independent heavy Tiger Abteilung of The 1st SS Panzer Division "Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler. The King Tiger was used in significant numbers for the only time in the west during the Ardennes offensive, distributed into four heavy panzer battalions. At least 150 Tiger IIs were present, nearly a third of total production, and most were lost during the offensive.
