This is a South African made mark 2 brodie helmet with the back holes filled in and the sand colour paintwork has been over painted black for civil defence use it is very nice condition semi-relic at worst. The helmet still with a lot of original black paintwork inside and outside the helmet and you can see the remains of the sand colour paint in places it still has both its chinstrap holders the helmet has no rust holes and no real damage it is in very solid condition does have some surface rust in places but not much and still has a smooth finnish and a very nice example of this famous helmet. The helmet was used in North African desert campaign by a South African soldier until 1943 then it was re issued back home to the United Kingdom as a civil Defence helmet and over painted for this reason. The helmet has come from a private collection of a very large number of helmets.
