This is an Russian Army soldiers belt buckle which is brass made in fairly clean condition it is semi- relic more then relic condition. The buckle is still very solid retains its brass colour but has discoloured and a bit dirty from being buried but it has all of its original symbols clear to see but has been squashed flat and missing its back clip it has been very well cleaned and is perfect for display or any collection. The buckle was recovered from the battlefield on the Seelow Heights in 1945 the opening battle for Berlin.A very nice relic from this famous battlefield.
This battle is often incorporated into the Battle of the Oder-Neisse. The Seelow Heights was where some of the most bitter fighting in the overall battle took place, but it was only one of several crossing points along the Oder and Neisse rivers where the Soviets attacked. The Battle of the Oder-Neisse was itself only the opening phase of the Battle of Berlin.
The result was the encirclement of the German 9th Army and the Battle of Halbe.
