This is Group of 5 engine parts which are 2 half rings from cylinders also small bar and 2 parts of burnt mag allow engine case melted in the fire when the plane was shot down. The parts have ripped, smashed and bent by the impact of the crash they are in nice clean condition and still retain some original colours they have been very well cleaned perfect for display or any collection the parts are 3-7 inches long in size. The parts come from RAF short Stirling bomber R9262 MG-A of 7 Squadron shot down on the 21st December 1942 on a raid over Munich in Germany it crashed in to the Ardennes Forest. The parts come with a A5 laminated information sheet.
RAF short Stirling bomber R9262 MG-A of 7 Squadron was lost on the night of the 21st December 1942 on a raid on Munich in Germany.
The raid was the first use of Oboe blind-bombing equipment by Mosquitoes of No.109 Squadron. Attack force on Munich that was 137 aircraft of 1 and 5 Groups and the Pathfinder Force - 119 Lancasters, 9 Stirlings, 9 Wellingtons. 12 aircraft - 8 Lancasters, 3 Stirlings, 1 Wellington - lost, 8.8 per cent of the force. On the raid 110 aircraft claimed to have bombed Munich and started fires but their photographs showed that all or most of the bombs fell in open country, possibly attracted by a decoy site. This stirling was Shot down by a Messerschmitt 110 nightfighter and crashed at Seraincourt in the Ardennes, 16 kn NW of Rethel, France. Those who died are buried in Seraincourt Churchyard.
