    This is a US 105mm Brass shell case dated 1944 with maker markings the case still retains some of its original brass colour it is dirty and a bit corroded also is a little bit out of shape at the top ware it was fired but still a nice solid relic used in the heat of battle in the famous summer.The case size and calibre were used in M101 105mm howitzer which was used in fairly large numbers after the D-Day landings the case was recovered from the Normandy battlefield of the summer of 1944.The shell case comes with a laminated 5x7 information sheet with information and photos. 

    The 105 mm M2A1 (M101A1) howitzer was a howitzer developed and used by the United States. It was the standard U.S. light field howitzer in World War II and saw action in both the European and Pacific theaters. Entering production in 1941, it quickly gained a reputation for accuracy and a powerful punch. The M101A1 fired 105-millimetre (4.1 in) high explosive (HE) semi-fixed ammunition and had a range of 11,270 metres (12,330 yd), making it suitable for supporting infantry.
