    This is a German packkiste number 10 transport container used between German factories re used late war to carry flash reducing charges to suppress muzzle flash at night fired by 10.5cm LEFH 18 field howitzer. The box is complete the wood still retains its original green paintwork with original white stamped markings still very clear to see on the lid. The box has paper labels on the front and on the inside of the lid which says last packed on 9th March 1944 right in the middle of the battle for Monte Cassino. The crate has no real bad damage just one small chunk missing from a corner the hinges work fine the lid still opens and closes perfectly the wood is in nice solid condition not braking up or falling apart the locks do still work and has both its carry handles in place and has 2 paper labels in place on the outside with some readable markings. On the inside again pretty good condition with paper label on the inside of the lid with nice readable markings the box overall does have some knocks and marks from use no wood worm which very good and has been very well cleaned perfect for display. The box recovered from Monte Cassino the Italian battlefield of 1944 the handle was recovered many years ago and has been in a local museum since which closed down in 2015.A very nice relic from the very famous Italian battlefield. The box comes with A5 laminated information card
