This is a French Engineers soldiers jacket button the small wrist one still with there original markings the brass has lost its colour but it is very solid condition it has only survived this well as it has been in a chalk lined bunker for 100 years.The button which is very rare to find from the battlefield as Engineers was not a massive branch of the French Army it was recovered from inside a German bunker near the village of Bucquay which was a German artillery position during the later part of The Somme battle in 1916 a very nice and rare relic from the famous Somme battlefield.
