    This is a rare World War 1 German ammunition wooden crate for 7.92mm bullets in well used condition.The box still has the remains of one paper label no markings readable but onside a label with some readable markings the box has been very well cleaned the hinges are not the usual leather they are cloth made as are both the carry handles all in very nice condition and not broken and also has its 2 replacement leather strap locks both still work perfectly the standard middle strap has been removed the lid still opens and closes fine a nice example of this standard issue German Army ammunition crate which has been captured and re used by the British hence all the changes in hinges,carry straps and locks.The box comes from a private collection on the Somme battlefield of 1916-1918 a rare bit of captured re used German equipment.
