    This is a German M42 pattern Helmet which has no leather liner left but has some small remains of its green maybe white paintwork as well partly clear to see on the inside and outside.The helmet which has battle damage blast impact cracks and dents in the top and the sides but has a complete rim it has miss shaped due to the impact hit but has been very well cleaned it is rusty but with not much rust damage a few small holes most of it is battle damage it in a very good and solid condition not braking up or falling apart at all and is perfect for display or any collection The helmet was recovered near the site of destroyed German Tiger 1 Tank from a tank of Schwere Panzer Abteilung 301,9th Panzer Division recovered near Elsdorf,Ruhr Pocket April 1945 and comes with A5 laminated information card.

    The 5. Panzerarmee was formed on 8 December 1942 in North Africa through the restructuring of the LXXXX Armee Korps. It surrendered in Tunisia on 9 May 1943. The 5. Panzerarmee was reformed on 5 August 1944 by the redesignation of Panzergruppe West. It fought in Normandy and narrowly escaped being destroyed in the Falaise Pocket. In September 1944, the 5. Panzerarmee launched an unsuccessful counterattack against the U.S. Third Army in Lorraine before withdrawing to the German border. The 9th Division was then partly reformed with schwere panzer abteilung 301 getting new tiger 1 tanks the Army then took part in the failed Ardennes offensive in December 1944 and later fought at the Remagen bridgehead before being destroyed in the Ruhr Pocket on 17 April 1945.
