This is a Very rare to find from the battlefield a German model 1915 Discus Grenade remains which is completely empty and inert these are only made from thin metal so don't see recovered very often .The grenade which is a complete outer case in 2 parts with no internals is rusty and relic but solid with some rust holes and damage but is very solid not braking up or falling apart it has been very well cleaned and is perfect for display or any collection and is a rare one for the collection as well these normally just rotted away after so many years. This grenade was recovered in 2014 from the old German trench line and bunker at La Boisselle in the field opposite where the Lochnagar mine crater is today on the information card there is photo of the trench line as it looks today which shows the exact location where the rifle was found it was recovered during work being carried out right on top of the old German trench line and underground bunker as it was on the 1st July 1916 during battle of the Somme the famous attack on that day. The rifle comes with A5 laminated information card with map of the exact location it was found and a nice find from the Somme battlefield.
