    This is a German ammunition wooden crate for 7.62mm bullets re used for 80 rounds of 20mm anti-aircraft ammunition fired by flak 30/38 anti-aircraft gun.The box has a large paper label on the inside of the lid which is complete with readable maker markings and dates with a last pack date of 1940 also has the remains of paper label on the outside of the lid. The box is in fantastic condition with all its original markings a stamped 88 clear to see both leather hinges in nice condition and work but one is broken it is missing its leather strap lock but the buckle end is still there it does have both its cloth carry handles the lid still opens and closes perfectly the box originally held 1000 x 7.62mm bullets but re used by the Germans very early in the war which is very rare to find. The box still retains its lovely brown colour it has no real damage it is still very solid not braking up or falling apart it did have wood worm but not bad and has been treated a rare very well preserved box a very nice example of this famous ammunition crate. The crate came from a private collection in Dieppe originally used by the German Army in the Normandy campaign in the summer of 1944.
