    This is a Russian 1910 maxim machine gun ammunition box which is a flat sided German made box for the captured Russian in German use the schweres Maschinengewehr 216(r) The tin is still very solid and has no damage still with lots of original green paintwork and is not relic condition much better then that the box has lovely clean paintwork the lid still opens, closes and lock also complete with its original leather carry handle which still work The inside of the box in nice condition with green paintwork the whole box is in solid condition not falling apart it has been very well cleaned and is perfect for display or any collection.The box was found in 1986 at the famous military fair in the village of Le Gleize which was captured by the 1st SS Panzer Division Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler the battle fought in December 1944 during the Ardennes Forest campaign from the Battle of the Bulge in 1944-45.

    The German forces in the village were surrounded by American forces at La Gleize, 800 survivors of the 1st Panzer SS lead by Peiper fled on Christmas Eve, leaving behind 135 armoured vehicles including the 69 tons King Tiger.
